butterfly take care

Our lives are filled with things that must get done, no matter what.

But what happens to “Our Own Time”?

This year I’m making a promise to myself (and, in effect, to those that love me) — I will take care of myself in 2014.

I will stop putting off the doctor’s appointments.

I promise to get the “to do” list narrowed down to realistic.

I will walk in the sunlight, moonlight come rain, snow, sleet or beautifully fair weather each and every day.

I will follow my passions with joy and excitement.

I promise to take care of me.

candyCaneTreeTen days before Christmas, year after year my birthday comes around.

Oh, I don’t mind the passage of the years – so much.  With time comes wisdom, right?

There comes a time when we begin questioning how we spent our lives – was it enough, or is there… more?  That is what I’m doing in the wee, small hours of this birthday morning.  Thinking, wondering.  Is there more?

I suppose, in the end – that choice is mine to make.

I’ve given a lot of thought to starting over lately.  Do over.  Begin again.  Fresh slate.  New beginning. The phrase list is ongoing.

When I began this blog I wanted it to be a place where I started my day.  I intended to write each and every day.  And that just did not happen.  I don’t really know why.  The easiest thing to say is that life got in the way of my good intentions.  While I was busy learning other things, the place where I wanted to put those teachings into action got very neglected along the way.

Well that ends right now.

While I refuse to box myself into yet another corner by saying I’ll write each day like the sun rising in the East… life happens.  So I won’t set myself up for a self-imposed guilt trip.

As Yoda said, “Try not.  Do or do not, there is no try.”

(and who can question the wisdom of a Jedi Master!)

I choose…

to live by choice, not by chance;

to make changes, not excuses;

to be motivated, not manipulated;

to be useful, not used;

to excel not compete,

I choose …

self-esteem, not self pity;

I choose…

to listen to my inner voice,

not the random opinion of others.

I choose to be the best me I can possibly be without excuse or regret.

I choose life.
